Microsoft now offers a six-month trial of the full version of Teams, its collaboration suite. This was made known in early March, as news of the Coronavirus pandemic began dominating the world’s airwaves.
Any company can now take Microsoft up on the offer, making it possible for more people to work from home while still collaborating with their colleagues to keep productivity up.
The trial that was previously offered had a limited feature-set, but this new trial is the complete version of Teams and comes with every single feature of the full version.
Differences between the free trial and the full version include the amount of cloud storage on offer, scheduled Teams meetings, meeting recording capabilities and phone calls and audio conferencing.
Dealing With Business Impact
“At Microsoft, our top concern is the wellbeing of our employees and supporting our customers in dealing with business impact during this challenging time,” Microsoft Asia President, Ralph Haupter, said in a blog post in early March.
“For many individuals and organisations, Microsoft Teams video-conferencing, chat and collaboration are playing an important role in helping people continue to work and collaborate. By making Teams available to all for free for six months, we hope that we can support public health and safety by making remote work even easier,” Haupter concludes.
In the wake of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech this weekend about South Africa’s response to the Coronavirus, today many companies are likely looking into ways of ensuring business continuity in these uncertain times, and one of the very best ways to do that is by enabling staff to work from home.
Give Teams a Chance
Giving Teams a try is a great way to implement or complement a work from home policy, while ensuring staff and management remain in contact and visibility into project status and progress remains transparent.
